A belated thank you to Khara Rogers and her family and friends for raising £183 at a 'Cake & Coffee Morning' held for World Prematurity Day in November! Money that will help fund the new Cooling Machine for the Unit.

We are delighted to report that the World Prematuri-Tea Day Tea Party and raffle/cake sales on the unit raised a staggering £2,181.25!! 

Thank you to everyone who came and who donated. After the phenomenal turnout this year, the Neonatal team are already thinking about a bigger and better event for next year (with more parking!).

New members are always welcome onto the BURPS team as we are a very small team of volunteers. Please get in touch if you would be interested in coming to meetings or helping in any other way.

What a great afternoon at our Afternoon Prematuri-Tea Party! So many people with their tiny and not-so tiny babies. Thank you to everyone who came.

BURPS recently purchased a new cold light for the Unit to replace an old machine that was no longer very reliable. This trans illumination light will be used to highlight pneumothoraces and to insert cannulas into babies' tiny veins.

After last year's fantastic World Prematurity Day Tea Party, the Neonatal staff have booked Longwick Village Hall for this year's event, as the Parentcraft room was full to bursting last year. 

This will be on Sunday 17th November 2-5pm

Please find details of some new support groups that have been sent to Burps:

A) Premature Infant and Parent Support group
Starting on Wednesday 27th February 2019 at 10.00 at Pace Training Centre, 156 Wendover Road, Aylesbury, HP22 5TF

This is a free five week group aimed at providing support and information to families who have had a baby born prematurely or at higher risk of developmental difficulties.The sessions will be lead by qualified therapists and will include:

- Baby massage (therapist has qualification from IAIM)
- Information talk on motor development/sensory development/play/feeding/early communication
- Time for families to meet/refreshments

B) Free therapy sessions for babies under 1 yr with a neurological condition:
The Bobath Early Assessment and Intervention with Babies and Young Children Course is being held at Pace Training Centre, 156 Wendover Road, Aylesbury. 27th March - 1st April 2019 for therapists wishing to learn to use the Bobath therapy approach.

Bobath is a charity which offers specialist treatment and training to support children and families living with cerebral palsy and similar neurological conditions.

As part of the course, families with babies under one who have neurological difficulties are invited to take part. The therapists, under the supervision of Bobath tutors, will work with children and parents to consolidate their skills using this approach.

The sessions are free to the families. They would be asked to come to the centre on 3- 4 days during the course.
